What is a sociology major?

A sociology major is a part of social science that encompasses the study of the development of social groups. 

What do students in this major do?

Students majoring in sociology research society and behavior. They study individuals, groups, communities, organizations, cultures, and societies since sociology is a social science that examines how people interact with one another. Students pay close attention to both contemporary interactions and historical civilizations.

Students will take classes in critical thinking, research, and data collection. This might involve tackling health care inequalities, religious discrimination, and family strife.

In sociology, students can pursue associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degrees.
