As today Cambodia continues to grow up, good engineers are in demand for today's development. An electrical engineer will be significant as well. Additionally, electrical engineering is being studied and famous in Cambodia, but most students still wonder what is the term Electrical Engineering. What is the study of this major about? How much do prospective Electrical Engineering students know about this field?
Electrical engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the practical applications of electricity in all its forms. It is one of the newer branches of engineering and emerged as a discipline in the late 19th century in 1864 when the Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell summarized the basic laws of electricity in mathematical form and showed that radiation of electromagnetic energy travels through space at the speed of light.
What are subjects you need to be prepared for entering the electrical engineering field of study?
In this field of study, students must be good at science subjects such as physics, mathematics, and chemistry. These subjects can lead students to study electrical engineering conveniently. For mathematics, students must be good in calculus, probability, series, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, matrices, and vectors. Another one is physics, students must be through with the concepts of Electricity, Magnetism, Electromagnetism, DC/AC, Mechanics, and Thermodynamics. Even though Chemistry is not necessary but solid foundation in Physical Chemistry is expected. Especially in Energetics and Electrochemistry.
How long does it take to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering?
Students will spend five years completing their studies in this field. Once they graduate they will receive a certificate entitled “Electrical Engineering Diploma”.
